The heart of the holiday season is upon us with all the chaos that goes along with it: Shopping, parties, music, wrapping presents, lights, family, friends, fruit cake — the list seems endless. It is also a time to reflect on your accomplishments from the last 12 months and contemplate resolutions for 2015.
My proudest accomplishment in 2014 was becoming a Board Member for CHF. What an honor it is to work with the CHF’s founders and other board and staff members who are inspired by the spirit of one little girl, Chelsea. When I get an opportunity to volunteer at Doernbecher, I am reminded how lucky I am to have a healthy family. The resilience of the children always amazes me as they parade around the hospital in their princess or pirate costume, complete a work of art, and enjoy a snack.
What resolution will you make in 2015 besides the common ones to lose weight, declutter your house or save money? Challenge yourself to do something different where you can impact the life of a child. Here are some ideas to get your started:
- Sign up to be a volunteer at Doernbecher or Randall Children’s Hospital
- Attend an event such as the Masquerade Ball
- Hold a costume drive at your school or workplace
- Make a costume donation or a financial gift to CHF
I know when making my resolutions for 2015, it will include Chelsea’s Closet and it will be a resolution I will be able to stick with all year long!
