Bringing Holiday Magic to Randall Children’s Hospital

December at Randall Children’s Hospital is always emotional, especially so close to the holidays. As we traveled through six floors, we were reminded that many families would give anything to be home. With that in our hearts, the Chelsea’s Closet team arrived ready to bring comfort, joy, and a little extra holiday magic to every room we entered. 

When we found ourselves a bit short handed, help arrived in the very best way. Katie and Morgan from ProTek Automotive showed up without hesitation and were ready to jump in wherever needed. Their willingness to step in and support our mission speaks volumes about the kind of business partnership they represent. We are incredibly grateful for partners like ProTek Automotive, and for Katie and Morgan, whose hearts for the community helped make this day even more meaningful. 

We never know the ages of the children we will meet, but this visit brought a surprising number of newborns. There is something deeply moving about seeing a new parent’s face when their tiny baby is fighting a serious illness. In those moments, even the smallest spark of joy can mean everything. A special diaper cover, a cozy onesie, a soft hat, a book, or a rattle can offer comfort, hope, and a reminder that they are not alone.

For the rest of the hospital, we sprinkled holiday cheer wherever we went. The magic begins the week before, as bins are packed with toys and goodies and our mobile closet is filled with costumes of all sizes and styles. On visit day, rolling racks are prepared with costume choices displayed on top and goody bags on the bottom, each one filled with fun surprises waiting to be shared. 

Volunteers and staff then head floor by floor, room by room, spreading laughter, smiles, and holiday magic along the way. It is a full day, but one that fills our hearts as much as it fills the hospital with joy. 

Visits like this remind us why we do what we do. Even in the hardest seasons, moments of love, kindness, and magic truly matter.
