Halloween Magic at Randall Children’s Hospital
Halloween came early to Randall Children's Hospital, and the halls were buzzing with giggles, wide eyes, and a little bit of spooky magic. Chelsea's Closet rolled in with three mobile closets overflowing with costumes ready to transform every kid into a superhero, princess, pirate, or dinosaur. There was something for every imagination, and you could feel the excitement in the air.
Our bins were bursting with Halloween treasures: soft slippers, colorful masks, stuffed pumpkins, wigs, hair paint, makeup, playful hair accessories, toys, and more. It looked like a Halloween dream had come to life.
This visit was a little different than usual. Normally, we bring the fun room by room, but this time the kids and families came to us. One by one, they explored the closets, picked out their favorite costumes, and filled their Chelsea Hicks Foundation bags with goodies. Some could barely contain themselves and slipped into their costumes right there in the hall. Others ran back to their rooms, eager to reveal their transformation to everyone they passed.
With bags full of treats and hearts full of joy, the kids headed off to trick-or-treat at the nurses' stations. Being in the hospital can be hard, but Halloween gave everyone a chance to forget the beeps and the white walls for a while and just be kids.
Seeing those smiles, hearing the laughter, and watching the excitement light up the halls reminded us exactly why Chelsea's Closet exists…to sprinkle a little magic, one costume at a time.
