Spreading Magic and Smiles: Bridlemile Elementary & Windermere Realty Join Forces for Chelsea’s Closet

For over 20 years, a special Halloween tradition has been quietly spreading joy in the Bridlemile community. Originally started by a neighbor who served hot spiced cider on Halloween night, the tradition was passed down to Jon Cohen and his wife Sallie, who have since added mulled wine for adults, and, of course, plenty of candy for kids. What began as a cozy neighborhood gathering has blossomed into something truly meaningful.
This year, the spirit of giving took center stage thanks to the collaborative efforts of Bridlemile Elementary School and Windermere Realty, led by Jon. Their combined efforts helped collect 20 costumes, 15 accessories, 2 toys, and even a fun, cozy blanket for the Chelsea Hicks Foundation, supporting children facing serious illnesses in area hospitals.
Jon and Sallie shared a heartfelt message with their community:
“We’re collecting new costumes and accessories for Chelsea’s Closet, a charitable group that organizes a rolling dress-up party for children facing serious illnesses at area hospitals, helping bring smiles to their faces and joy to their hearts, and helping them forget their daily struggles, just for a moment.”
Bridlemile Elementary played an important role by sending messages to families and encouraging donations during their Monster Mash event, a fun-filled night for students and parents alike. Together, the school and Windermere Realty created a seamless partnership that brought the community together in the spirit of generosity and support.
We are so grateful for their dedication and teamwork. Thanks to their combined efforts, children facing serious illnesses will receive costumes, toys, accessories, and even a cozy blanket that bring magical moments, laughter, and a brief escape from their daily challenges.
About the Chelsea Hicks Foundation
Starting in 2009, the Chelsea Hicks Foundation has been inspiring hope and empowering children through the power of play. When serious illness impacts a child's world, CHF helps children and families PLAY, PRETEND, and LAUGH together, creating special moments and lasting memories when they are needed most.
