Sundt Construction: More Than a Gift, A Partnership That Feels Different

A few weeks ago, we welcomed a team from Sundt Construction and the Sundt Foundation into our warehouse.

They came to deliver a generous grant, one that will directly support bringing moments of imagination and escape to children facing serious illness through the Chelsea Hicks Foundation.

It was a meaningful moment.

One we are deeply grateful for.

And what stayed with us just as much… was the way they chose to show up alongside it.

This connection began when Devanta Black came across our work and saw something in it. Not just what we do, but why it matters. Through that, we were encouraged to apply for support through the Sundt Foundation.

When we received the grant, it was more than a yes.

It was an investment in the children and families we serve.

In moments that bring light into very heavy days.

What made it even more meaningful is what followed.

There was a genuine desire to understand the work. To not just support it from a distance, but to step inside it. To see where the magic begins. To connect more deeply to the heart behind it.

When their team visited, with Devanta Black and Scott Bingham among them, they didn’t rush through the space.

They slowed down.

They asked questions.

They listened.

They stood among shelves filled with costumes and toys and saw what we see every day, not just items, but moments waiting to happen.

A child becoming a superhero.

A princess.

A dragon.

A child, even for a little while, stepping out of the hard and into something lighter.

And in that space, it became clear, this is an organization that is intentional about where they give and how they give.

Sundt shares that giving back is a defining part of who they are. And in the way their team engaged, both through this generous grant and through their presence, that belief felt real.

Because the partnerships that matter most don’t just provide support.

They strengthen it.

They deepen it.

They bring it to life.

We are incredibly grateful for this partnership with Sundt Construction and the Sundt Foundation, and for the impact this gift will have on the children and families we serve.

And even more than that, we are grateful for what this partnership is becoming.

Because this feels like the beginning of something meaningful.

A shared commitment.

A growing connection rooted in purpose.

We are excited for what lies ahead, for the ways we will continue to learn from one another, and for the impact we can create together.

Because of partners like this, a child will open a box, put on a costume, and step into moments to…

Play.

Pretend.

Laugh.

And this is only the beginning of what we can create together.

About the Chelsea Hicks Foundation

Starting in 2009, the Chelsea Hicks Foundation has been inspiring hope and empowering children through the power of play. When serious illness impacts a child's world, CHF helps children and families PLAY, PRETEND, and LAUGH together, creating special moments and lasting memories when they are needed most.
