The Windermere Team Brings More Than Helping Hands
There are volunteer groups, and then there are volunteer groups that walk through the door feeling like old friends. For the past several years, the Chelsea Hicks Foundation has been fortunate to welcome the Portland Heights Windermere team back to our warehouse during their annual company-wide volunteer day, and each year they remind us why we look forward to their visit.
This year, eight enthusiastic volunteers arrived ready to jump in wherever they were needed. Led by Joe Menashe, the group brought positive energy, big smiles, and a willingness to tackle every task that came their way. From the moment they arrived, we knew it was going to be a great day.
The team rolled up their sleeves and got right to work. They helped with craft projects for our upcoming Costume Ball & Gala, unpacked and restocked inventory, organized supplies, and tackled countless behind-the-scenes projects that help keep our programs running smoothly. No task was too big or too small.
What always stands out about the Windermere team is their ability to jump in and figure things out. Each volunteer brought unique talents, strengths, and ideas to the table. They worked together seamlessly, solved problems as they arose, and needed very little direction. You could tell this wasn’t their first rodeo.
But as valuable as their hard work was, our favorite part of the day was the time spent together. Between projects, we shared conversations, laughter, and stories. Those moments remind us that volunteering is about more than completing a to-do list. It is about building connections and creating a community of people who care deeply about helping children and families facing serious illness.
Our only regret was that the day had to end. By the time the last project was finished, we were already wishing the Windermere team could come back every day.
We know there are countless organizations and causes worthy of support, and we never take it for granted when a group chooses to spend their time with us. Windermere continues to show up for CHF not only through volunteerism, but also through the generous support of the Windermere Foundation. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and belief in our mission.
And of course, no visit would be complete without a few photos with our beloved mascot, George, who was more than happy to jump in and join the fun.
Thank you, Joe and the entire Portland Heights Windermere team, for your continued support, your hard work, and the heart you bring to everything you do. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the warehouse again soon.
