Turner & Townsend Heery Helps Create Magic Behind the Scenes

When a group of employees from Turner & Townsend Heery walked through the doors of the Chelsea Hicks Foundation warehouse this week, many of them weren’t quite sure what to expect. What they may not have realized yet was that by simply showing up, they were already making a difference in the lives of children facing serious illness.
Thanks to the heart and leadership of Amy Delegato, volunteers from across the city came together to spend a few meaningful hours serving alongside our team. Before diving into the day’s projects, we had the opportunity to share the story behind the Chelsea Hicks Foundation, the mission that began with Chelsea Hicks, and how therapeutic dress up and play helps inspire hope and empower children during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
We often tell volunteers that every single task matters because behind every costume sorted, every package prepared, and every item organized is a child waiting for a moment of joy, imagination, and escape from the reality of hospitals, treatments, and uncertainty.
And this team embraced that wholeheartedly.
No matter the task, the Turner & Townsend Heery team jumped in with positivity, teamwork, and heart. Some projects were simple, while others required patience and perseverance, but this group knew exactly how to divide and conquer. From sorting donations and organizing inventory to helping process Chelsea’s Closet materials for upcoming hospital visits, they tackled every project with care and purpose.
The team even stepped in to help prepare for our 17th Annual Once Upon a Time: A Night to Sparkle Costume Ball & Gala on October 10, 2026, helping us create magical details that will ultimately support children and families served through our programs year-round.
What stood out most throughout the day was not just how much work was accomplished, but the spirit in which it was done. There was laughter, connection, teamwork, and genuine compassion woven into every task.
Volunteer days like this remind us that the impact of the Chelsea Hicks Foundation extends far beyond hospital walls.
It takes a community of people willing to step up, show up, and say yes to making a difference. Companies like Turner Townsend & Heery help in bringing hope back into communities by choosing to invest their time, energy, and hearts into children and families they may never meet, simply because they care.
We are incredibly grateful to Amy Delegato and the entire Turner & Townsend Heery team for spending part of their day with us and helping continue the mission of inspiring hope and empowering children through therapeutic dress up and play.
Because of volunteers like these, more children facing serious illness will receive joy, confidence, imagination, and the chance to simply be kids again.
