It’s that time of year… With December blowing by as briskly as the winter winds it brings along. Amid the harried hustle that elapses between Halloween and New Year’s – is also the most prevalent time of year for one to reflect and regroup around thankfulness. Not one to commit to a daily affirmation of “grateful” – an obligation that would escape with the breeze – I do embrace the spirit of the season and pause at least long enough to appreciate that my “crazy” world is quite charmed….
Immensely thankful for…
…the opportunity to choose how I live and speak freely of my own words…
…a childhood that was filled with love and encouraged service-beyond-self…
…a vast circle of family & friends who provide unmatched fellowship and bundles of laughter…
…a home filled with the warmth and passion of three amazing “boys” (1 = husband; 2 = off-spring)…
…a career that both challenges my limits and nurtures the individual I strive to be…
…the phenomenal family whose painful journey, which resulted in their young son earning his angel wings, was navigated with such graceful spirit, my heart was moved…
…the stars that aligned to introduce me to the Chelsea Hicks Foundation and an opportunity to fill a need…
…the privilege to support the endless, committed work by a foundation to simply bring a smile and joyful memories to sick children and their families…
…the honor it is to work with selfless people like CHF’s founders who are inspired by the spirit of one little girl – but driven to touch the hearts of thousands…
CHF tackles an unquantifiable need in the world of children’s serious illness – and does it very well. I am grateful to be engaged in an organization that takes the simple act of “dress-up” and turns it into remedy for long days, agonizing treatments and heartbreaking news.
In spite of it being a time of year to be overwhelmed by the paralyzing conflict between life-demands and confrontation of the vast needs in the world – my peace resides in extreme gratitude for phenomenal people who live beyond themselves and the platform of my life that allows me to ride along.
Do you have an opportunity to reflect gratefulness by embracing an opportunity today? Can the Chelsea Hicks Foundation help fill your heart?

“This organization takes the simplest concept – kids playing dress-up – and makes it a powerful and impacting moment in the lives of children and families experiencing a low time in their lives. I am proud to give my time and energy to such an amazing effort.”
