Around this time last year, I was asked to join the Chelsea Hicks Foundation Board of Directors. What a HUGE HONOR! Since joining the Board, I have been awestruck by the efforts and impact of Chelsea’s Closet programs, and the Foundation’s events. This past October I attended my second Masquerade Ball, my first as a board member. Seeing all of the work that goes into the event added to my overall appreciation for this tremendous evening. Only six more months until the 2015 Masquerade Ball! When we can once again break out the dance moves and raise money for the Chelsea Hicks Foundation.
As the end of the school year rapidly approaches my family and I have begun to plan our summer outings, and it reminds me of the warm memories I have vacationing with the Hicks family when I was a kid. Whether we were camping at Cove Palisades, cruising the Oregon Coast or visiting Victoria, BC, our families always had a great time together. Growing up on a small cul-de-sac right next door to the Hicks family, Jason and Sabrina (Co-Founders) were the closest thing I had to an older brother and sister. The Hicks family has always been there for me – during happy and sad times. Joining the Board and helping in any way I can, is truly my pleasure. I look forward to continuing to work together and helping Chelsea’s Closet create loving and lasting memories for other families.
Summer is an eventful time when we can enjoy the blessings of great weather and spending time with our families. During this time please keep Chelsea’s Closet and the 1500+ children and families we serve in your thoughts. Consider donating costumes and crafts, volunteering, or purchasing tickets to the 2015 WinCo Foods Portland Open golf tournament and concert. 100% of the ticket proceeds go to local charities!
